Shade Ready Socket Extended Threads Overview

Our ivory Shade Ready Socket with Extended Threads gives you more threading area than the standard version, with no flange on the socket — ideal for pairing with two shade rings to sandwich larger shades securely in place. It ships with one shade ring included; a second ring is available separately if your shade needs it. Since there's no flange, we recommend pairing this socket with one of our Half Cap Metal Socket Covers for a finished look.

What does "Euro fitter" mean?
It's the industry term for a 1⅝" shade opening — this socket's threading is sized to fit shades built to that standard, including all of our Shade-Ready shades.

Do I need a second ring?
Only if your shade is on the larger side — this socket has no flange, so an extra ring lets you sandwich bigger shades securely in place. It's sold separately since not every project needs it.

What do I use to cover the socket if there's no flange?
We recommend pairing this socket with a Half Cap Metal Socket Cover for a clean, finished look.

How do I know if my shade will fit?
All Color Cord Shade-Ready shades are compatible. For vintage or outside-brand shades, measure the opening against the 1⅝" Euro fitter size, or check our Shade Compatibility video.

Add an extra shade ring for larger shades and a Half Cap Metal Socket Cover to finish the flangeless design, then pick up cloth-covered wire by the foot and a cord grip to keep it securely attached to your cord — sold separately. As with any lighting project, we recommend consulting a licensed electrician if you have questions about your specific setup.
