Step-by-Step Assembly Guide
Ready to dive into learning how to install a pendant light? Read through all the instructions before you get started so you know what to expect on the next step.
Step 1: Preparing the Canopy and Wiring
Start wiring your pendant light by attaching the threaded canopy conversion kit to the center punch canopy. Strip about ¼ inch of insulation from your conductor wires to expose the copper strands. For a secure connection, tin the ends with solder.
Step 2: Wiring the Socket Correctly
Wire the socket by connecting the black (positive) wire to the gold terminal and the white (negative) wire to the silver terminal. Secure the wires by tightening the screws. Add on the all thread and tighten to the socket cap, feeding the wires through. Complete the socket assembly by twisting on the skirt and finally adding on the cover.
Step 3: Assembling the Neckless Cap Components
The next step in how to install a pendant light is assembling the all-thread reducer, tubing, necklace fitter, and cap. Tighten the washer and nut to ensure a solid build, completing the look with the finishing coupler to cover the connections
Step 4: Connecting the Tubing to the Canopy
Thread the tubing into the canopy conversion kit and feed the conductor wires through. Trim and strip the wire ends for ceiling installation of your modern globe pendant light.
Step 5: Installing the Pendant Light Safely
Always turn off power at the breaker before installation. Attach the rotating canopy mount to your junction box and connect the wires (black to black, white to white, ground to canopy as shown in the video). Secure connections with wire nuts and tape.
Step 6: Final Assembly & Testing Your Modern Globe Pendant Light
Screw in the light bulb of your choice, position the glass shade, and secure everything with the finishing coupler. Restore power and enjoy your custom lighting fixture!
Important Notes:
This assembly is not compatible with 1/4 IPS tubing. Additionally, wiring a pendant light in this way was not designed for table lamp conversion. Any modifications or alternative designs are done at your own risk and discretion.
