Whether you're adding a shade to an existing fixture or building a custom piece from scratch, our black Shade Ready Socket is built to pair with Euro-fitter shades. It comes with a shade ring included, so you're ready to assemble as soon as your shade arrives.

Please note: This socket is self-locking — do not assemble it with the terminal inside before it's wired, or the terminal will lock the socket and shade ring permanently. See our socket wiring guide for step-by-step assembly.
Frequently Asked Questions

What does "Euro fitter" mean?
It's the industry term for a 1⅝" shade opening — this socket's ring is sized to fit shades built to that standard, including all of our Shade-Ready shades.

How do I know if my shade will fit?
All Color Cord Shade-Ready shades are compatible. For vintage or outside-brand shades, measure the opening against the 1⅝" Euro fitter size, or check our Shade Compatibility video.

Complete the Build

Pick up cloth-covered wire by the foot and a cord grip to keep it securely attached to your cord — sold separately, or check out our power cord whips to build a full plug-in fixture. As with any lighting project, we recommend consulting a licensed electrician if you have questions about your specific setup.
