Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant - Boulder, CO

After nearly 30 years of serving up delicious tex-mex and margaritas with a Colorado twist the Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant decided it was time to refresh their Boulder location. The Rio Grande is a staple of Boulder's downtown scene and we're thrilled to have been able to collaborate with Shari Cahill of PlaSe Design to help outfit the space with the gorgeous custom lighting seen throughout the space.

In a group collaboration with PlaSe Design and Nate Sedar from Sedar Custom Metalworks and Color Cord Company, these gorgeous geometric fixtures were born. Using unfinished metal for the geometric frame and raw brass lighting components allowed for these fixtures to create a gorgeous blend of industrial and modern styles. We also helped Shari retrofit vintage brass lighting collars from a historic Denver hotel. These fixtures continue the raw brass and raw metal lighting elements seen in the space but add some historic charm.

To round out the design we used our lighting customizer to create custom multiport fixtures to incorporate and match existing colors in the space. We ultimately landed on Avocado and Mod Orange Mini Tweed as they were the best accents to the existing color story.

All of these fixtures come together to create a space that is perfectly designed to highlight the delicious tex-mex food and tasty margaritas. If you happen to be craving those two things the Rio Grande in Boulder is our recommended spot - just remember to look up and enjoy the custom lighting!
