HOW MUCH LIGHTING DO I NEED?

IT'S EASY TO CALCULATE

You can easily pick the right amount of light for each room in your home. Certain rooms require more light than others, so pay attention and take notes:

Lumens and Room Size

Here is a simple calculation to see how much lighting you need:

Calculate Total Sqf of Space & Multiply by 14.5. Always Remember Dark Surfaces & Tall Ceilings Reduce Lighting Output.

Living Room:  10-20 Lumens Per/Sqf

Kitchen (General):  30-40 Lumens Per/Sqf

Kitchen (Task):  70-80 Lumens Per/Sqf

Dining Room:  30-40 Lumens Per/Sqf

Bedroom:  10-20 Lumens Per/Sqf

Hallway:  5-10 Lumens Per/Sqf

Bathroom:  5-10 Lumens Per/Sqf

PRIMARY
vs. SECONDARY LIGHTING?

HAVING ONE OR BOTH WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

 1. Primary Lighting

Primary lighting provides the overall ambient light for a given space.
These are usually can or flush mounted overhead lights.

2. Secondary Lighting

Secondary lightings provides character to the given space.
Usually placed near a photo, plant, or as a decorative piece.
