I ordered a 9-drop pendant light. The only two options for the ceiling canopy were 5" or 12". The problem with that is that the hole in my ceiling accommodated a 6" canopy, forcing me to choose the 5" (since the 12" would be far too big).
If this had been 2 or maybe 3 drops, this would have been fine. Given the 5" canopy, effectively, you're limited to working in about 4" because of the wires going through the canopy. Remember, each drop contains 3 wires that all have to be linked up, and then linked to house power. The problem is that the more drops you have, the more wires you have, but you still only have about 4" of space to do it in. I had 9 drops, so 27 wires in 4" of space. The problem with this is the more drops you have, the more problems/headache you have.
As I said, if you have maybe up to 5 drops, it may be fine, but if you have many more than that, you run out of room quickly. There needs to be some sort of disclaimer that cautions people that the number of drops exponentially increases the difficulty of wiring it up. Also, Color Cord needs to offer more canopy diameter options than just 5" and 12". This does not meet peoples' needs.
It does look cool, but installing it also has some significant complications.

We hope you were able to get the fixture installed so you can enjoy it. The more pendants you add on a fixture the more complicated it can be to wire. We do suggest to all of our customers that the consult a licensed electrician for any installation needs and as always we are happy to help by phone, email, or chat. We currently only carry the two sizes of canopies but are always adding new product assortments and this is on our radar!
